Introduction to Bobsleigh or Bob Skeleton |
| You can have the opportunity to train with the champions and gain in confidence, strength, teamwork and courage. This could be the first step to doing the real thing! We run a similar event in Norway! What is Bobsleigh? The team (normally four people for this activity) pushes the sleigh and boards and the brakeman jumps in 50 to 60m from the start point. Speed is crucial at this first stage and many top track sprinters make the transition from Athletics to Bobsleigh. Once in the crew members keep their heads down, forming a compact surface with minimum drag. What is Bob Skeleton? The athlete adopts a face down, head first, minimal drag riding position on board a sleek sled. From a stand still at the track top, the athlete sprints over 20 to 30 metres, accelerating the sled before diving aboard. The athlete continues to accelerate under gravity, aiming to adopt the most energy efficient line possible while negotiating approximately fifteen curves. The aim simply is the fastest possible descent of the track, racing against the clock to within 1/100th of a second. On the day. The high performance coaches will guide you through the skills and strategies required for the ‘Formula One' of ice sports to make your experience exhilarating, fun, and safe. The session starts with a short video to get you into the mood. Then its to the track for a thorough safety briefing. Once your are kitted out with the correct safety gear, it out to the track to learn the sport and techniques used. You will have a trial run on the 'start facility' built for athletes to train for the Salt Lake City Olympics. The start facility is a true replica and although it is not on ice, you can achieve speeds of up to 40 mph (total track length is approximately 60m - this is not a full length track and there will be up to 3 other participants in the bobsleigh with you). You will have a chance to get another quick practice in before being put to the test on the timed runs. When can you go? Available on selected dates, all year round (subject to availability). Duration The activity will last approximately 2 to 3 hours. Key information To participate in this activity you must be at least 15 years old. General fitness is required. This may not be suitable if pregnant or for persons who suffer from epilepsy, fits, heart conditions, diabetics or old leg or arm injuries. You may be requested to sign a self declaration form of general fitness. No experience or qualifications are necessary. How many in a group There will be a maximum of seven people in your group, though there may be other groups on the day. Spectators You are welcome to bring family and friends to watch you take part in this activity. Is the activity weather dependent Don't worry, this activity is not dependent on weather conditions. Indoor Skydiving |
| Imagine a wind tunnel that could be used for testing the aerodynamics of an F1 racing car, turn it upright, jump onto the airflow and you are skydiving. It's a proven concept operating in several countries to the benefit of the skydiving community and anyone else who wishes to taste the thrill of freefall in a completely safe environment. After check-in there's a short class with a video brief and instruction, then it's off to collect your flight gear. You and your group will enter the tunnel and take it in turns to fly. You each get 2 flights of one minute each that's about the same as three tandem skydives. In your first flights you will learn the basic freefall position. When can you go? This experience is available Monday to Sunday, all year. Duration This experience lasts roughly 1 hour at the venue, which includes 2 flights of 1 minute each. Key information The minimum age is 5 years old (under 18 year olds must be accompanied by an adult). You must be reasonably fit to participate in this activity and there is a maximum weight restriction of 114kg (18 stone). It is not suitable for pregnant women, if you suffer from a dislocated shoulder or wearing a hard cast. No qualifications or experience are necessary. How many in a group? It will be just you in the air. Spectators You are able to bring along spectators to watch. Is the activity weather dependent? Don't worry, this activity is not dependent on weather conditions Locations Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire; |

30 Minute Microlight Flight Experience |
| Microlighting perfectly captures the spirit of early aviation - pioneering, thrilling and a touch eccentric. These quirky little aircraft, with their panoramic views from the cockpit, are ideal for short trips over the countryside. This is a great way to fly on a fine summer's day! Our instructors will give you a thorough briefing and then take you on a trial flying lesson. We are sure you will end up as enthusiastic as they are! You will be given a detailed briefing from your instructor, which includes how to use dual controls, how to enter the aircraft and pre-take off checks. You then take to the sky, climbing to up to 1500 feet above ground level in a flexwing (open cockpit) or fixed wing (closed cockpit - similar to a mini plane) aircraft (please state preference at time of booking). The instructor will demonstrate the controls and then, if the instructor is happy, the controls will be passed to you. Happy flying! When can you go? Selected Monday to Sunday dates, which vary depending on the venue, all year. Duration Your total experience will last for approximately 1 hour, with 20 to 30 minutes in the microlight.
