Here the vines grow in soil which is more clayey and chalky than the rest of the region. In this district the principal grape varieties are Colombard, Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche. These single vintage Armagnac's which are entirely from grapes harvested in the one particular year have become not only some of the most refined examples of fine after dinner drinks sought after by connoisseurs, but are also most valuable as collectors items.
