Basically, our friends across the 'big pond' wanted a pen that could write in zero gravity, freezing temperatures and at varying angles - including upside down. Millions of dollars were consequently spent to develop what is now revered as the Fisher Space Pen. Arguably the most popular pen of the 20th century.
